1. Oklahoma City, OK
In Oklahoma City, you can have 4 cats or 4 dogs. If you love both animals, you can keep them in any combination not exceeding 4 in total. Per the city's municipal code, kittens and puppies under 6 months of age aren't subject to this restriction. To keep more than 4 dogs or 4 cats, or dogs and cats totaling more than 4 in Oklahoma City, you need to obtain a kennel license. There is a rabies vaccination requirement for all dogs and cats in the city.
2. Tulsa, OK
In Tulsa, OK, each household is limited to 5 dogs or 5 cats or any combination of both not exceeding a total of 5. Dogs and cats under the age of 4 months are not subject to these regulations, per the city code. A Hobbyist Exemption permit is required to own more than 5 pets in the city of Tulsa. Every dog and cat over 4 months of age in Tulsa must be vaccinated and registered with the Director of Finance.
3. Norman, OK
The city of Norman, OK's municipal code allows you to have a maximum of 4 dogs and 6 cats over six months of age if all of the animals are spayed or neutered. Households with unsterilized animals are limited to 2 dogs and/or 3 cats over six months of age. To exceed these limits, you need to apply for and obtain a $50 private kennel license. The annual renewal fee for the license is $25. Every dog and cat over 4 months old within the city of Norman is required to be vaccinated against rabies.
4. Broken Arrow, OK
The city of Broken Arrow's animal ordinances allow no more than 4 domestic animals per household without a permit. However, this restriction does not apply to property zoned agricultural (A-1). To have 5 or more pets in Broken Arrow, OK, you need a hobbyist exemption permit, the issuance of which is subject to certain requirements. Under this permit, a combined total of 20 dogs and cats may be kept at a single-family dwelling.
5. Edmond, OK
A maximum of 4 cats over the age of 6 months is allowed per household in Edmond, OK. If you're a dog person in the city, the number of dogs you can own is limited to 4. The city code requires every owner of cats and dogs to have their pets vaccinated against rabies by a vet. When in public places within the city, dogs are required to be on a leash not more than six feet in length. In addition, the leash is required to be of sufficient strength to control the actions of the dog.
6. Lawton, OK
You can own 3 adult dogs or adult 3 cats without a permit in the city of Lawton, Oklahoma. To own 4 or more but not more than 7 dogs or cats, or any combination thereof, a special handler's license is required. An annual kennel license is required to own 8 or more dogs or cats, or any combination thereof, within the city. The city's municipal code requires every dog and cat owner to obtain a license for each of their pets from the Animal Welfare Division. The city offers 2 types of pet licenses ("A" license and "B" license) depending on whether or not the animal is sterilized.
7. Moore, OK
In the city of Moore, OK, a maximum of 4 animals (dogs or cats) is allowed per household. If your female dog or cat gives birth, you are allowed to keep the puppies or kittens, according to Moore's municipal code. The code makes it unlawful for pet owners to fail to prevent their animals (except cats) from running at large within the city. Moore has a pooper scooper law requiring all pet owners to clean up after their pets in public places.
8. Midwest City, OK
A total of 4 domestic animals, including dogs and cats, are allowed per residence in Midwest City, OK. This restriction does not apply to hamsters, chinchillas, or guineas, which may be kept in addition to the maximum number of animals allowed per household. In Bartlesville, OK, you may keep a maximum of 2 dogs and 2 cats outside of a primary dwelling unit. This restriction does not apply to dogs and cats under the age of 6 months and agriculturally zoned properties. The city's municipal code does not restrict the number of cats and dogs kept within a primary dwelling unit, so long as all of the animals have current rabies vaccinations. Every dog and cat living in the city is required to have a pet license and wear a collar with the license tag attached.
