How Many Pets (Dogs/Cats) Can You Own in Utah?

The maximum number of pets you can own in Utah depends on where you live. That's because Utah, like many other states, has no statewide law regarding the number of pets that can be kept in a home. Instead, each municipality in the Beehive State is tasked with enacting its own local pet ownership laws. As a result, the allowable number of dogs and cats per household in Utah varies from one municipality to another.

In some Utah cities, up to four dogs or four cats are allowed per household. Check with your city to determine whether there is a pet limit law in your locality. Search for your city's animal ordinances online or contact your local animal control office. Meanwhile, check out these Utah cities that have pet limit laws.
